Anti-Drug Awareness Meeting Held in Sivasagar
An anti-drug awareness meeting was organised in Sivasagar by the Anti-Drugs Squad.
The awareness programme was held near the Hanuman Temple, adjacent to Sivasagar Sadar Police Station in the heart of Sivasagar town.
The meeting was attended by Sivasagar Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch) Maidul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Sivasagar Sadar Police Station Babul Kumar Medhi, along with more than a hundred local residents.
Chief Convenor of the Anti-Drugs Squad, Bandana Kaushik Bordoloi, along with almost all the office-bearers of the organisation, were also present at the awareness programme.
During the meeting, the members of the Anti-Drugs Squad emphasised the need for strict enforcement of laws against drugs. They also expressed their commitment to extending full support to people affected by drug addiction and helping them return to the mainstream of society.
Speaking at the programme, Additional Superintendent of Police Maidul Islam highlighted the strict measures currently being taken by the Sivasagar Police against drug-related activities. He stated that measures have been taken to keep drug traffickers in jail for up to one year, and that one person has already been sent to jail under the action taken by the police.
