Rourkela Ring Road Turns Accident-Prone, Two Killed in 10 Days
Rourkela, September 11 (SatyaNewsAlert): The Rourkela Ring Road has increasingly become a major cause of concern for commuters, with accidents being reported almost every day. At least two persons have died and more than 12 others have sustained injuries in road accidents on the Ring Road over the past 10 days.
In the latest incident, a bike rider, identified as Trinath Sindur, who was seriously injured after being hit by a truck near DAV Chhak on Wednesday, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital on Friday morning.
Police have seized the Hyva vehicle allegedly involved in the accident. Following the death, the deceased’s family members and local residents staged a protest in front of the Raghunathpali Police Station on Friday, demanding compensation or ex-gratia assistance for the bereaved family.
The protesters urged the authorities and concerned parties to provide financial assistance to the victim’s family, who are now facing hardship following the death.
Earlier, on September 3, a security guard was killed in a road accident near Pluto Mall on the Ring Road.
Residents have alleged that overspeeding, defective road conditions and inadequate traffic management are among the major factors contributing to the frequent accidents on the Ring Road. With accidents occurring at regular intervals, concerns are growing over road safety and the need for immediate corrective measures by the authorities
