Union Minister Jual Oram Clarifies on Circuit House Incident; Calls for Fair Probe and Legal Action if Guilt Is Proved Rourkela, August 22 (SatyaNews): Seven persons have been arrested following the seizure of a pistol and ammunition from the Circuit House in Rourkela. After allegations surfaced regarding the alleged involvement of Prakash Paswan, a representative of Union Minister Jual Oram in the Rourkela Municipal Corporation, Oram issued a clarification on social media. In his statement, Oram said that various discussions and misleading information were being circulated using his name in connection with the Circuit House incident, prompting him to issue the clarification. “Prakash Paswan is one of my active workers and a representative of the Rourkela Municipal Corporation. If there are any allegations against him in connection with the Circuit House incident, there should be a fair, impartial and transparent investigation. If he is found guilty, he should be punished according to law. I have no objection to that. The law must apply equally to everyone,” Oram stated. The Union Minister further said that he has been involved in electoral politics for the past 35 years and has received the support and blessings of people belonging to different religions and communities. “For me, everyone is equal—Odia people, people from other states, tribals, Bengalis, Biharis or Marwaris. I have been elected to serve all sections of society, and working in the interest of the people is my responsibility,” he said. Oram also expressed concern over attempts to allegedly create confusion by using his name in connection with information obtained through the Right to Information (RTI) Act. “If any attempt is being made to spread false or misleading information through RTI-related information by using my name and thereby create confusion among the people, that should also be properly examined,” he said. The Union Minister warned that if any individual or organisation is deliberately carrying out a campaign of misinformation against him, he would take appropriate legal action. “Political differences and criticism are part of politics. However, falsehood, misinformation and conspiracy will not be tolerated,” Oram said. Concluding his statement, he added, “Time is a powerful force. I am waiting for time to reveal the truth.”

Rourkela, August 22 (SatyaNewsAlert): Despite stringent road-safety laws and enforcement measures, road accidents continue to claim lives and cause serious injuries, with reckless driving and suspected drunk driving remaining major concerns. A serious road accident occurred on Saturday afternoon near Ghadi Chhak at Hanuman Vatika in Rourkela, leaving two persons critically injured. The accident took place when a speeding car reportedly rammed into a trailer carrying iron angles. The two injured persons were rushed to a government hospital for treatment. Another person has reportedly been taken into police custody in connection with the incident. Preliminary investigation reportedly indicated that the driver of the car and some of the other occupants had consumed alcohol. Local residents alleged that excessive speed and suspected drunk driving were responsible for the collision. However, the exact cause of the accident is yet to be established. Police from Uditnagar Police Station have launched an investigation into the incident. The accident has once again raised concerns over road safety on Rourkela's Ring Road, where accidents are frequently reported. Residents have urged the police and concerned authorities to intensify patrolling, enforce speed limits and strengthen checks against drunk driving to prevent further accidents.
Circuit House Arms Seizure Case Takes New Turn; Police Hunt for BJP Youth Leader Rourkela, August 22 (SatyaNewsAlert): The investigation into the seizure of a pistol and ammunition from the Rourkela Circuit House has taken a new turn, with the name of BJP youth leader Prakash Paswan emerging in connection with the case. Seven persons have already been arrested in connection with the incident. During the course of the investigation, questions were reportedly raised over the alleged role of a BJP youth leader in arranging accommodation for the arrested persons at the Circuit House. The leader has now been identified as Prakash Paswan. Police reportedly seized a vehicle allegedly used by Paswan on Friday and are conducting further inquiries into his possible involvement in the case. Two of his associates are also being questioned at the police station as investigators seek to establish the sequence of events and determine the roles of those allegedly connected with the incident. Police had planned to bring Paswan to the station for questioning. However, he has reportedly not been traced so far. Three police teams have been deployed in different parts of the state and outside Odisha to locate him. According to preliminary information available to the police, Paswan may have travelled to Delhi. Following the information, a police team is reportedly preparing to proceed to Delhi as part of the search operation. Congress Stages Protest, Demands Impartial Probe Meanwhile, demanding a fair and impartial investigation into the Circuit House arms seizure case, the Rourkela District Congress staged a protest in front of the Superintendent of Police's office on Saturday. Congress president Sabir Hussain praised the police for the seizure of the arms and ammunition from the Circuit House and demanded stringent action against all persons found to be involved in the incident. The Congress leadership also called for a transparent investigation to ensure that every individual connected with the case is identified and dealt with in accordance with the law. Urmal was intercepted by Vigilance officials on Thursday while allegedly carrying ₹5 lakh in cash. During questioning, he reportedly admitted that the money had been collected as bribe from people. Following the interception, the Odisha Vigilance launched a detailed investigation into allegations of possession of assets disproportionate to Urmal’s known sources of income. During searches conducted at multiple locations in Sundargarh and Rourkela, Vigilance officials recovered an additional ₹5.74 lakh in cash. Including the ₹5 lakh seized from Urmal during his interception, the total cash recovered so far stands at ₹10.74 lakh. During the searches, Vigilance officials also detected a two-storey building measuring approximately 3,700 square feet at Karamdihi in Sundargarh, along with six valuable plots located in Sundargarh and on the outskirts of Rourkela. The searches further revealed gold jewellery valued at approximately ₹55 lakh and 635 grams of silver ornaments. Apart from immovable and jewellery assets, Vigilance officials found approximately ₹66.10 lakh in deposits across banks, post offices and insurance schemes. One Hyundai car and three two-wheelers were also detected. Searches and verification at various locations are still underway. Further details are expected to emerge after a comprehensive assessment and valuation of the assets and financial transactions detected during the investigation. Three Killed as Coal-Laden Truck Runs Over Scooter in Sundargarh Sundargarh, August 21 (SatyaNewsAlert): A three-year-old child and mother , grandmother were killed in a horrific road accident near Bhasma police station in Sundargarh district on Thursday evening. The accident occurred in front of a petrol pump along the Biju Expressway when a coal-laden truck allegedly ran over a scooter carrying the victims. The deceased have been identified as a three-year-old child from Gaijor village under Sadar police station, the child’s mother, Mita Singh, and another elderly woman. Mita Singh’s sister, Lisa, sustained critical injuries in the accident and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. Following the incident, the truck driver reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot. Angry locals subsequently blocked the Biju Expressway, causing a major traffic disruption, with a large number of vehicles stranded on both sides of the road. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Nirmal Chandra Mahapatra and personnel from Bhasma police station reached the spot and engaged with the agitating locals. Following discussions with the police, the road blockade was eventually lifted and traffic movement resumed. Police have initiated an investigation into the accident and efforts are underway to trace the absconding truck driver.

Urmal was intercepted by Vigilance officials on Thursday while allegedly carrying ₹5 lakh in suspected ill-gotten cash. With the latest recovery, the total cash seizure so far stands at ₹10.74 lakh. During the searches, Vigilance officials have also unearthed several other assets and valuables, including: A double-storeyed building measuring approximately 3,700 sq ft at Karmdihi in Sundargarh. Six high-value plots located on the outskirts of Sundargarh and Rourkela towns. 241 grams of gold jewellery and 635 grams of silver ornaments. Bank, postal and insurance deposits amounting to ₹66.10 lakh. One Hyundai Grand i10 Sports four-wheeler and three two-wheelers. The searches are still continuing at various locations. The Vigilance Department is expected to conduct further verification and assessment of the assets and financial transactions. A detailed report is awaited.
