The Rourkela Circuit House has once again come under the spotlight following the viral video of social media influencer Tina Nandy. In the video, she is seen praising the newly constructed Circuit House and mentioning that an SP and his son were expected to meet her.
Since the video contained sensitive claims, SatyaNewsAlert conducted a fact-check based on information available so far.
According to the verification, the SP referred to by Tina in the video was late Prasanna Kumar Mohanty, a retired Vigilance SP, who passed away during the COVID period. His son, Ashish Mohanty, was reportedly involved in bringing Tina to Rourkela and arranging her stay.
Tina had reportedly come to Rourkela for the inauguration of Gehana Trade Gold Private Limited, located on Kacheri Road. The company's director, Edwin Martin Nair, had allegedly contacted Tina and invited her to the inauguration programme.
According to the information gathered, arrangements for Tina's accommodation at the Circuit House were made after contacting Ashish Mohanty. The matter regarding the room was reportedly coordinated through Circuit House employee Abhishek Das.
Tina reportedly arrived in Rourkela from Jharsuguda Airport in an Audi car belonging to Shubhendu Panda. Sources said Ashish Mohanty had asked Panda to bring her from the airport to Rourkela.
Tina's viral video reportedly stated that she had stayed at the Rourkela Circuit House on December 1, 2025, and that she was scheduled to meet an SP and had a meeting with the SP's son.
The circumstances surrounding her stay at a government guest house have now raised questions over who recommended or authorised the accommodation and under whose direction the room was allotted.
Police are reportedly investigating the matter. Shubhendu Panda and Ashish Mohanty are being questioned, while Edwin Martin Nair, director of the trading company, is reportedly absconding, according to information available so far.
Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.

A truck carrying 280 sacks of rice, reportedly dispatched from the Rourkela FCI for delivery to a designated dealer point, allegedly reached a rice mill instead of the authorised destination, triggering an investigation by the police and Food Supplies officials.
According to information available, the rice consignment was meant for the dealer point of Phuleswari Acharya. The key question now is how and why the 280 sacks of rice, which were reportedly dispatched from the FCI for delivery to a dealer point, ended up at a private rice mill.
Whether the transportation of the rice violated prescribed rules and whether there was any unauthorised diversion of the consignment are among the issues being examined.
The exact circumstances behind the incident will become clear only after completion of the investigation. Authorities are expected to ascertain the movement of the truck, the documents associated with the consignment and the reasons for its arrival at the rice mill.

Electric Scooter Catches Fire in Rourkela’s Basanti Colony
Rourkela, September 11 (SatyaNewsAlert): An electric scooter caught fire while on the move in Basanti Colony, Rourkela, yesterday, leaving the vehicle completely gutted.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. The repeated incidents of electric scooters catching fire, however, have raised concerns over the safety of battery-powered two-wheelers.
A proper investigation is needed to determine the exact cause of such fires and whether there are any issues related to the battery, charging system or manufacturing quality. Authorities concerned should carry out necessary inspections to prevent similar incidents in the future.
<nis:link nis:type=tag nis:id=safetycaution: nis:value=SafetyCaution: nis:enabled=true nis:link/> Riders should avoid using a scooter if the battery shows signs of swelling, overheating, unusual smell or leakage. Use only the manufacturer-recommended charger, avoid overcharging, and do not charge the vehicle immediately after a long or strenuous ride. If smoke or fire is noticed, move away from the scooter immediately and call the fire service rather than attempting to handle the burning battery yourself.
