Can the same land grow both crops and electricity? ЁЯМ▒тШАя╕П
At Dayalbagh Educational Institute in Agra, an interesting experiment is making this possible.
A 200 kW agrivoltaic solar plant has been installed, with solar panels mounted above the farmland while crops like chickpeas, brinjal and tomatoes grow underneath.
The panels provide shade that can help retain soil moisture and potentially reduce water requirements.
In simple terms: solar energy above, farming below, on the same land.
This model, known as Agrivoltaics or Agri PV, could give farmers another potential source of income alongside agriculture.
The vision is simple: making farmers not just Annadata, but also Urjadata.
If scaled successfully, agrivoltaics could offer an interesting way to combine food production and clean energy.
Would you like to see this model adopted on more farms across India?
