#News | The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Guwahati has launched its cardiac surg°ry programme with the successful completion of two open-heart surg°ries, marking a significant advancement in specialised cardiac care in Assam and the Northeast.
The two surg°ries were performed as part of the institute’s newly initiated cardiac surg°ry services, strengthening AIIMS Guwahati’s capacity to provide advanced heart treatment and surg°cal care to patients within the region.
The launch of the programme is expected to reduce the need for patients from Assam and other northeastern states to travel outside the region for complex cardiac procedures. AIIMS Guwahati, located at Changsari, is a central government medical institute under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The successful procedures mark an important milestone in the expansion of tertiary and specialised healthcare services at AIIMS Guwahati and are expected to further strengthen the institution’s role as a major healthcare centre for the Northeast.
