A fatal assault was reported in Surat’s Bhestan area, where a man lost his life after being allegedly attacked by five to six unidentified persons near an open plot close to Saraswati Awas. Following the severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall in Surat, several Municipal Primary Education Committee schools were affected after floodwater entered the premises. Books, uniforms, shoes, and other educational materials belonging to students were damaged. The Gujarat Government had directed officials to conduct a damage assessment, and a survey of around 10 affected schools has now been completed. According to Municipal Primary Education Committee Chairman Rajan Kapadia, the details of the losses have been submitted to the state government, and replacement textbooks will be provided to affected students soon.
