Good news for women in Surat's diamond and jewellery trade. GJEPC has launched the 'Unnati' mission to bring more women into the industry. Under its Ratnakalakar Parichay Card scheme, the first 1,000 women diamond workers to register get insurance of up to Rs 1 lakh free. In the first phase, 200+ Surat women will get skill courses in jewellery design (CAD), diamond planning, polishing and retail sales, and 50 women received Unnati Awards.
