#News | The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) has intensified dredging operations near the berthing jetty at Bogibeel in Dibrugarh, as part of ongoing efforts to maintain navigability along National Waterway 2 on the Brahmaputra River.
IWAI’s departmental dredgers are currently engaged in removing accumulated silt from the riverbed in front of the jetty. Siltation, a recurring challenge in the Brahmaputra due to its high sediment load, often reduces water depth and creates obstacles for vessel movement. The present dredging work is aimed at restoring and maintaining adequate draft levels required for the safe operation of inland vessels.
