#News | The Assam government has announced an additional holiday on October 17 on the occasion of Durga Puja, extending the festive break for government offices and institutions in the state.
With the additional holiday, people across Assam will get a five-day holiday period from October 17 to October 21 for the Durga Puja festivities. The holiday period will cover the additional holiday on October 17, followed by the scheduled Durga Puja holidays.
The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The extended holiday is expected to provide people with more time to celebrate Durga Puja with their families and participate in various religious, cultural and community programmes held across the state.
