BPUT Canteen Food Hygiene Row Sparks Student Protest On 2nd Day in Rourkela
Rourkela: 11/10 (SatyaNewsAlert) Hundreds of students at Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela, staged a protest following a viral video allegedly showing a canteen worker kneading dough with his feet while preparing rotis.
The students raised slogans against the food contractor and demanded strict action, along with proper hygiene and food safety standards.
Chhend police reached the campus and brought the situation under control.
Meanwhile, BPUT Director Shiv Shankar Mishra denied reports of insects being found in the food, termed the circulating photograph misleading, and said an investigation was underway.
More than 600 students reside in the university’s two hostels, where food hygiene remains a major concern.
