#News | In a significant administrative announcement, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday announced the creation of eight new co-districts across the state during his Independence Day address in Guwahati. Among the newly announced co-districts is Chabua-Lahowal, marking a major administrative development for the Dibrugarh region. The other newly announced co-districts are Kamalpur, Barhampur, Rangnadi, Chichibargaon, Khumtai, Katigorah and Barkhola. The creation of the Chabua-Lahowal co-district is expected to bring administration and government services closer to people in the region. The move is aimed at improving accessibility to government offices, strengthening local administration and ensuring more efficient delivery of public services. For residents of Chabua-Lahowal, the announcement is expected to reduce the need to travel long distances for various administrative requirements and facilitate better coordination between the government and local communities.
