Sindoor Khela Marks Maa Durga’s Farewell at Old Out Station Road Durga Puja Pandal in Rourkela
Rourkela, October 21, 2026 (SatyaNewsAlert): A blend of devotion, tradition and emotion marked the celebration of Sindoor Khela at the Old Out Station Road Durga Puja pandal in Rourkela on Vijayadashami, as married women came together to bid an emotional farewell to Maa Durga.
Following four days of prayers and religious rituals, women gathered at the pandal on the final day of the festivities to perform the traditional Sindoor Khela ceremony. They offered vermilion (sindoor), bangles and other traditional items to the Goddess, praying for the happiness, prosperity and well-being of their families.
The women then applied sindoor to one another, celebrating marital bliss, sisterhood and the spirit of togetherness. The ritual created a deeply devotional atmosphere, with the joy of the festivities mingling with the sadness of bidding farewell to the Goddess.
The ceremony marked the culmination of the Durga Puja celebrations, as devotees offered their prayers and sought Maa Durga’s blessings while preparing to bid her farewell until next year.
