ABLTMA Contributes ₹15 Lakh to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for Flood-Affected Families in Assam In a significant gesture of solidarity and social responsibility, the Assam Bought Leaf Tea Manufacturers Association (ABLTMA) has contributed ₹15,00,000 (Rupees Fifteen Lakh) to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support the relief and rehabilitation efforts for families affected by the devastating floods across Assam. The contribution reflects ABLTMA’s deep commitment to the people of Assam and its resolve to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with communities during times of crisis. As an association closely connected with the grassroots and rural economy of the state, ABLTMA believes that supporting affected families is not merely a responsibility but a collective duty towards society. A delegation of ABLTMA comprising Sri Chand Kr. Gohain, Sri Chandrajit Baruah, Sri Aslam Khan, Sri Sumit Agarwal and Sri Pawan Prithany met the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, and formally apprised him of the association’s concerns and ongoing issues relating to Maximum Residue Limits (MRL) in the tea sector. During the interaction, the Hon’ble Chief Minister assured the delegation that during his forthcoming visit to Dibrugarh, he would convene a joint meeting involving the Government of Assam, Tea Board India, FSSAI and ABLTMA to discuss the MRL-related concerns and explore appropriate solutions for the tea industry. ABLTMA expressed its gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister for giving a patient hearing to the concerns of the Bought Leaf Tea Manufacturers and for assuring his intervention in addressing the issues faced by the sector. The association reiterated that while it remains committed to maintaining food safety and quality standards, it is equally important that the concerns of tea manufacturers and the practical challenges faced at the grassroots level are addressed through consultation, scientific assessment and a coordinated approach among all stakeholders.
