
#News | A 20-year-old engineering student from Arunachal Pradesh was found d*ad at a rented house in Kozhipilly near Kothamangalam in Kerala, police said on Sunday.
The dec*ased was identified as Michi Marpu, a native of Naharlagun in Papum Pare district and a third-year B.Tech student at Mar Athanasius College of Engineering, Kothamangalam. He was fo#nd on the floor of his rented accommodation on Saturday evening, where he lived with college mates. Police said a three-page note written in English and Hindi was recovered from the room.
Police have registered a case of unnat#ral d*ath and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. According to the police, Marpu may have fe*red losing an academic year after securing low marks in some subjects. A po$tm#rtem is expected after his relatives reach Kothamangalam.
Meanwhile, students at the college have announced plans to pr*test over the institution’s minimum credit requirement. Student representatives alleg*d that the autonomous college requires students to secure 22 credits, compared with 18 credits at engineering colleges affiliated with Kerala Technological University.
There has been no immediate response from the college authorities to the alleg@tions. Police said a detailed invest!gation is und*rway to establish the circumstances that led to the student’s de@th.
