Addressing a press conference, the Chief Minister said each family kit will contain essential food items, including 8 kg of rice and 2 kg of dal. The packing of these relief kits is being carried out at multiple locations, including Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Nagaon, Guwahati, and other nearby districts, to ensure their timely distribution. The Chief Minister said that with the floodwaters receding, government teams are now able to reach villages that were previously inaccessible. Relief distribution has been intensified, and the administration is working to ensure that every affected family receives the necessary assistance. He added that district administrations, volunteers, and various agencies have been directed to expedite the distribution process so that relief reaches people without delay. The government will continue to monitor the situation and provide all possible support until normalcy is fully restored in the flood-affected areas.

Addressing a press conference following the State Cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister said several organisations had approached the government seeking guidance on the most useful items to contribute for ongoing relief operations. He urged donors to prioritise phenyl, baby food and new clothes, stating that these items are currently among the most urgent requirements in flood-hit areas. The Chief Minister noted that used clothes may not be readily accepted by many affected families and could also pose health risks, as flood victims are already vulnerable to infections due to poor living conditions and prolonged exposure to contaminated water. Emphasising the importance of maintaining hygiene, Dr. Sarma said disinfectants such as phenyl would help prevent the spread of diseases in flood-affected areas. He also highlighted the need for baby food to support infants and young children facing difficult conditions in relief camps and affected villages. The Chief Minister appealed to individuals and organisations to donate new shirts, T-shirts, children’s clothing and traditional attire such as mekhela sador, particularly for women and children. He said these essential items, along with hygiene supplies and baby food, would provide meaningful support to families as the government continues relief and rehabilitation efforts across the flood-aff#cted districts.
