#Video | Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke with Flydubai Captain Smit Machchhar through a video call as the inj*red Indian pilot recovers following a mid-air em*rgency aboard a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv.
Machchhar, speaking from a hospital, briefed the Prime Minister about the incident and described how he responded despite suffering serious inj*ries. According to reports, he managed to reach and open the cockpit door after realising that the aircraft was rapidly descending.
His actions allowed passengers and crew members to enter the cockpit and intervene. Other qualified pilots on board subsequently helped take control of the aircraft, which later made an em*rgency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
During the conversation, Prime Minister Modi praised Machchhar's courage and presence of mind during the emergency and wished him a speedy recovery.
Machchhar also recalled the difficult moments aboard the aircraft and spoke about how he remained determined during the crisis. Reports said he recited the Hanuman Chalisa during the ordeal.
The incident has attracted widespread attention, with authorities continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the emergency and the events inside the cockpit.
