#News | A gold chain was allegedly snatched from a citizen near the entrance of the District Commissioner’s (DC) Office in Dibrugarh in a daring broad daylight robbery on Monday, raising concerns over public safety in the busy administrative area.
The victim, Hrishikesh Goswami, stated that he had arrived at the DC Office in an electric auto-rickshaw for some official work. As he stepped out of the vehicle and was about to enter the office premises near the staircase, two unidentified motorcycle-borne miscreants allegedly approached him.
According to Goswami, one of the assailants pushed him to the ground, causing injuries, while the other allegedly snatched his gold chain. The duo then fled the scene on a motorcycle before anyone could intervene.
The vict#m said that both the rider and the pillion rider were wearing full-face helmets with dark visors, making identification difficult. He described the pillion rider as being slightly heavy-built and wearing a black checked shirt. The motorcycle used in the cr#me was suspected to be a black Pulsar.
Goswami reportedly sustained injuries to his knee, elbow and arm during the incident. He also claimed that the screen of his mobile phone was damaged after he fell to the ground.
Following the incident, the victim lodged a complaint at the Milan Nagar Outpost. Police have initiated an investigation and are examining available leads to identify and apprehend the accused.
