A bomb threat forced an Air India flight travelling from Dammam to Delhi to make an emergency landing in Amdavad while flying at around 34,000 feet.
A tissue carrying the message “BOMB DEAD 4:30” was reportedly found inside the aircraft’s washroom. The crew immediately alerted the pilot, following which the flight was diverted to Amdavad.
After landing, 32 passengers and 7 crew members were evacuated safely. The aircraft and baggage were thoroughly checked by the bomb squad and dog squad, but nothing suspicious was found.
Handwriting samples have now been collected to identify who wrote the message. After security checks were completed, the passengers were sent onward to Delhi.
