#Assam | A state-level Intensified Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign on HIV and S*xually Transmitted Infections (STIs) was launched in Dibrugarh on Wednesday with a focus on strengthening awareness, promoting prevention and reducing stigma surrounding HIV.
The programme was organised by the Dibrugarh District Administration in association with the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) and the Assam State AIDS Control Society (ASACS) at the District Library, Dibrugarh.
The campaign, held under the theme #IndiaFightsHIVandSTI, seeks to enhance public understanding of HIV and STIs and encourage people to adopt safe practices and make use of available testing, treatment and support services. Such intensified IEC initiatives form an important part of the national HIV response, with awareness and stigma reduction among their key objectives.
The programme was graced by Assam Health and Family Welfare Minister Ashok Singhal as the Chief Guest. The initiative is being supported by ASACS, Khanapara, Guwahati.
