#News | Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that regulations for legally authorising the use of 100% ethanol as a fuel have been finalised.
Gadkari said he recently signed the file approving the new regulations and highlighted the launch of a 100% ethanol-compatible version of Maruti Suzuki WagonR. He added that Hero MotoCorp has also introduced two flex-fuel motorcycle models capable of running on 100% ethanol.
He further stated that companies including Toyota, Suzuki Motor Corporation, MG Motor India and Hyundai Motor Company are expected to launch 100% ethanol-compatible vehicles soon.
According to Gadkari, ethanol will become an alternative to petrol and help in promoting cleaner fuel options. He also announced that a pilot project in Nagpur will soon introduce a hydrogen pump and two hydrogen-powered buses using green hydrogen produced from water through an electrolyser.
He said the move towards alternative fuels is now closer to becoming a reality.
