Prof. (Dr.) M. Srinivas, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, visited the CCRAS–National Institute of Indian Medical Heritage (NIIMH), Ministry of Ayush, Hyderabad, on 11 September 2026. Dr. N. Srikanth, Deputy Director General, CCRAS, welcomed him and briefed him on NIIMH’s initiatives, digital portals, repositories and research in traditional systems of medicine.
During the visit, Prof. (Dr.) Srinivas reviewed the museum, library and research divisions and appreciated NIIMH’s efforts in digitising rare manuscripts, documenting historical scientific records and preserving India’s rich medical heritage. He called for international standards in museum preservation, capacity-building programmes and greater collaboration with medical and academic institutions.
Prof. (Dr.) Srinivas also highlighted the potential of NIIMH as a destination for educational tourism and emphasised the need to enhance its visibility and global recognition. Describing NIIMH as a “Temple” preserving India’s rich medical history, he appreciated the dedication of the institute towards safeguarding this heritage for future generations.
