#Dibrugarh | In a major operation against the alleged ill*gal supply of codeine-based cough syrup, Barbaruah Police conducted a two-stage operation leading to the s*izure of 97 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup, along with cash, mobile phones and a vehicle.
The operation was led by IC CDSP Khowang Amit Ranjan Barman, in coordination with OC Barbaruah Nitu Changmai and IC Bogibeel Jitupan Dutta.
During naka checking near Bogibeel Bridge, police intercepted a car. A search of the vehicle reportedly led to the recovery of 10 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup, ₹1,420 in cash and an OPPO mobile phone from beneath the driver’s seat.
Following leads obtained during the initial seizure, the police team proceeded to Silapathar in Dhemaji, with assistance from Dhemaji Police. A search was subsequently conducted at M/s Biswas Pharmacy at Gandhinagar, where police reportedly seiz#d another 87 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup, ₹2,850 in cash and a Vivo mobile phone.
In total, the operation resulted in the s*izure of 97 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup, ₹4,270 in cash, two mobile phones and one vehicle.
Police are continuing their investigation to trace the source and intended distribution network of the seiz*d pharmaceutical product
