Electricity Reaches International Hockey Player Kiran Ekka’s Home After Years in Darkness
Biramitrapur, September 30, 2026 (SatyaNewsAlert): International hockey player Kiran Ekka, an Adivasi girl from Limida Gram Panchayat under Nuagaon block in Sundargarh district, has brought pride to Odisha and the country through her achievements in international hockey. However, despite representing the country at the international level, her family home had remained without an electricity connection.
Kiran’s family had been living without electricity, spending their days in a house without basic power facilities.
After learning about the situation, Biramitrapur MLA Rohit Joseph Tirkey reportedly took immediate steps to address the issue. On Wednesday, an electricity meter was installed at Kiran Ekka’s residence and power connection was provided to the house.
The development brought joy to Kiran and her family. Various organisations, intellectuals, sports enthusiasts and local residents have appreciated the initiative.
The electricity connection is being seen not merely as the provision of a basic facility, but also as an effort to bring light to the home of an Adivasi sporting talent and support her aspirations for a brighter future.
