#News || The Assam government has launched an ambitious plan to plant 1 crore saplings across the state on June 5, marking World Environment Day. Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Atul Bora said the massive plantation drive will involve more than 35 lakh women Self-Help Group (SHG) members, making it one of the largest environmental campaigns in the state. The initiative is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen environmental conservation, increase green cover, and promote sustainable development across Assam. Ahead of the campaign, Bora held a review meeting in Guwahati with senior officials from the Panchayat and Rural Development Department and the Environment and Forest Department to assess preparations and implementation plans. Officials have been directed to ensure maximum public participation and smooth execution of the plantation drive, with proper monitoring measures in place throughout the state. The campaign is being organized under the leadership of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as part of the government’s ongoing focus on ecological protection and afforestation. . . . . . #lakhimpurbuzz
