<nis:link nis:type=tag nis:id=news nis:value=News nis:enabled=true nis:link/> || A new AI-powered nostalgia trend is taking social media by storm, with people across Assam turning their modern photographs into stylish 1980s-inspired portraits.

The viral “80s photo trend” uses artificial intelligence to recreate the fashion, hairstyles, colours and old-school photography styles of the decade. The results often look like photographs taken from an old family album or a classic Bollywood studio shoot.

The trend has also caught the attention of Assam’s social media users, celebrities and public figures, who are joining the retro wave by sharing their AI-generated throwback looks online.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also joined the trend, sharing an AI-generated 1980s-style image. He captioned the post, “Getting to any trend which has nostalgia attached to it. Back to the 80s eh!”

The trend has gone beyond entertainment, with politicians across India also embracing the AI makeover. Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Kiren Rijiju have shared their own 80s-inspired AI portraits on social media.

From vintage suits and aviator sunglasses to retro cars, film-grain effects and faded colours, the trend is giving a new generation a glimpse of an era they never experienced — while allowing those who remember the 80s to revisit its distinctive style through AI.

With more Assamese users joining the trend every day, the AI-powered trip back to the 80s has quickly become a social-media nostalgia wave in Assam.
