#News || Assam may face a major diplomatic setback as the proposed visit of the Japanese Prime Minister is likely to be cancelled, according to sources. The reported decision comes after the Prime Minister’s security team allegedly raised concerns following the June 18 unrest over the repainting of singer Zubeen Garg’s mural beneath the Ganeshguri flyover in Guwahati.
Although no official announcement has been made, sources indicate the visit may be called off due to security reasons. If confirmed, this would be the second cancellation of a Japanese Prime Minister’s visit to Assam, with the first occurring during the anti-CAA protests. The cancellation could impact Assam’s efforts to strengthen international ties and attract global investment.
