![भूख हड़ताल... एक ऐसा विरोध का तरीका जिसमें ना हथियार उठाया जाता है और ना हिंसा की जाती है। सिर्फ अपनी मांगों के लिए इंसान अन्न-जल त्याग देता है। लद्दाख के सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता सोनम वांगचुक का अनशन एक बार फिर चर्चा में है। लेकिन भारत में भूख हड़ताल का इतिहास इससे कहीं ज्यादा पुराना और बड़ा है। महात्मा गांधी ने इसे अहिंसक सत्याग्रह का हथियार बनाया, भगत सिंह और उनके साथियों ने जेल में इसका इस्तेमाल किया। आजादी के बाद पोट्टी श्रीरामुलु, इरोम शर्मिला, अन्ना हजारे जैसे कई लोगों ने अपनी मांगों को लेकर लंबी भूख हड़ताल की।
