“Sakchi ka Teen Koniya Hotel… sirf ek hotel nahi, Jamshedpur ki ek kahani hai! ❤️”
Did you know this iconic Sakchi landmark is believed to date back to around 1967?
Started by Rajendra Prasad Shukla, Teen Koniya Hotel became a familiar name in old Sakchi, standing behind Basant Cinema on a triangular plot — perhaps explaining the name Teen Koniya, meaning something with three corners.
But this wasn’t the kind of “hotel” we think of today.
It was known for chai, singada, aloo chop, kachori, pyaji, pakodi and its much-loved seasonal gud ka rasgulla, made with khajur gur. 🍵🥘
Over the decades, the hotel became so closely associated with the area that Teen Koniya itself became a landmark, with places around Sakchi still using “Teen Koniya” and “Teen Koniya Hotel” as location references.
From the old days of Sakchi to today’s bustling streets…
Teen Koniya Hotel has witnessed nearly six decades of Jamshedpur’s changing story. ❤️
And perhaps that’s what makes old Jamshedpur special —
some places don’t just exist in a city… they become a part of its identity.
