DPS Bokaro marks Teachers’ Day with students stepping into teachers’ shoes
Bokaro: The classroom changed hands at Delhi Public School, Bokaro, on Teachers’ Day as students took on the role of teachers, while their mentors watched from the other side of the desk — a gesture of gratitude for those who guide, inspire and shape young minds.
##A day of role reversal
The school observed Teachers’ Day with a special assembly, cultural performances and tributes to Dr S. Radhakrishnan, the philosopher, educationist and former President of India, whose birth anniversary is celebrated as Teachers’ Day.
##A tribute to Radhakrishnan
The celebrations opened with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Principal Dr A.S. Gangwar, followed by floral tributes to Dr Radhakrishnan. Students recited a self-composed poem dedicated to teachers before taking the stage for a cultural programme featuring dance performances, a group song and an orchestra.
##Krishna, the eternal guru
The Primary Wing added a special touch with a melodious song and a dance portraying Lord Krishna as the eternal guru and one of humanity’s greatest mentors.
##Flowers, cards and gratitude
The students also presented flowers and handmade cards to their teachers as tokens of appreciation, turning the celebration into a personal expression of gratitude.
##Teachers at the heart of nation-building
Addressing the assembly, Dr Gangwar spoke about the irreplaceable role of teachers in shaping the future of the country. Teaching, he said, was the profession that laid the foundation for every other profession.
##Technology cannot replace teachers
He also drew attention to the limits of technology in education, stressing that no innovation could replicate the human bond between a teacher and a student.
“Technology may process data, but a teacher understands emotions, nurtures aspirations and builds future citizens,” Dr Gangwar said.
##A bond beyond textbooks
He added that no nation could progress without the active contribution of teachers and urged students to cherish the values and ideals imparted by their mentors.
“This Teachers’ Day, let us celebrate the wonderful bond between teachers and students that instils confidence and hope in every child,” he said.
##More than a celebration
The celebrations at DPS Bokaro served as a reminder that beyond lessons and textbooks, the teacher-student relationship continues to be built on trust, understanding and inspiration.
