Invitation Ritual Held Ahead of Sacred Ghosa Yatra at Rourkela
Rourkela, July 15: On the eve of the sacred Ghosa Yatra (Ratha Yatra), the traditional invitation ritual was solemnly performed at the Plantsite Jagannath Temple in Rourkela.
As per age-old customs, the Chaturdha Murti—Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Sudarshan—were ceremonially invited to visit the Gundicha Temple on Power House Road for the annual Ghosa Yatra. Priests and devotees participated in the ritual with deep devotion, chanting Vedic hymns and offering prayers for the successful conduct of the festival.
The invitation ceremony marks the formal commencement of the annual journey of the deities from their main temple to the Gundicha Temple, where they will stay during the festival before returning in the Bahuda Yatra.
Devotees gathered in large numbers to witness the sacred ritual, filling the temple premises with an atmosphere of devotion and spiritual fervour.
