What happens when a 6-year-old and a 60-year-old sit together and try to balance a stone?
Something beautiful happens.
At Nostalgic Cafe, we brought together people from different age groups for an immersive Rock Balancing experience — and the session began not with the stones, but with a few moments of silence and meditation.
Slowly, we moved from stillness into the fascinating art of Rock Balancing.
Our lead facilitator *Anilesh Khare* shared how, in ancient times, stone balances were used by travellers as markers and guides along their journeys. In many traditions, people also created these balances as sacred offerings to local deities — an expression of gratitude for wishes fulfilled.
And then, everyone picked up their first stone.
What followed was much more than simply making rocks stand.
Every stone demanded observation.
Every balance required patience.
Every failure invited another attempt.
And every successful balance brought a small moment of joy, reflection and discovery.
From a six-year-old boy to ladies in their sixties, everyone explored different forms of balancing and learned the fundamentals of inline balancing.
And perhaps that's what makes this art so special.
It doesn't ask how old you are.
It simply asks you to slow down, observe, experiment and find your point of balance.
And doing all of this at Nostalgic Cafe, surrounded by their wonderful hospitality and delicious food, added its own special charm to an already beautiful experience.
Sometimes, all it takes is a few stones…
a little stillness…
and the willingness to find your balance.
One stone at a time.
