#News || A tragic accident struck the Indian Air Force on Saturday morning after an AN-32 transport aircraft crashed while landing at the Air Force Station in Jorhat, Assam.
The aircraft, which was reportedly flying from Arunachal Pradesh to Jorhat on a routine sortie, crashed within the air base premises at around 10 AM and caught fire shortly after impact.
Five Indian Air Force personnel lost their lives in the crash. The deceased have been identified as Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, Agniveervayu Khemaram Kumawat, and Agniveervayu Danish Alam.
The co-pilot survived the accident and is currently undergoing medical treatment.
Expressing deep sorrow, the Indian Air Force paid tribute to the personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty and extended its heartfelt condolences to their families.
Emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the crash site to control the fire and carry out rescue operations. The Indian Air Force has ordered a Court of Inquiry to determine the cause of the accident.
