A fake “verification call” was all it took for scammers to hijack SIM cards and empty bank accounts.
In Bihar, fraudsters reportedly impersonated education department officials and contacted teachers under the pretext of urgent verification and account updates. During the call, victims were manipulated into sharing OTPs and other sensitive information.
