Tufanganj set to witness the state’s biggest finswimming showdown
Tufanganj, Cooch Behar | August 28–30, 2026: The sporting spotlight will turn towards Tufanganj as the 6th West Bengal State Finswimming Championship 2026 gets underway from August 28 to 30 at the Tufanganj Swimming Pool, Cooch Behar.
Organised by the Cooch Behar District Underwater Sports Association, the three-day championship will bring together finswimming athletes from across West Bengal, competing for top honours across three disciplines — Surface, Bi-Fins and Apnoea.
The championship is expected to provide a competitive platform for emerging as well as experienced swimmers and further promote the growing popularity of underwater sports in the state.
The tournament will be formally opened by Malati Rava Roy, MOS (IC) of WCD & SWD and SHG Department and Program Monitoring Department, Government of West Bengal, and MLA of Tufanganj Assembly Constituency.
With athletes competing for medals and recognition at the state level, the championship promises three days of speed, endurance, technique and sporting spirit. The event will also highlight the potential of finswimming as an exciting and competitive aquatic sport in West Bengal.
The organisers have invited sports lovers and local residents of Tufanganj to come forward and witness the championship while encouraging the participating athletes.
