#News || Just days after Assam witnessed tensions with Arunachal Pradesh over the Assam-Arunachal border issue, another situation has now emerged involving Meghalaya.
The earlier tensions saw a major road blockade, with Lakhimpur also witnessing the impact as movement on key routes was disrupted.
Now, tensions between Assam and Meghalaya have surfaced after Assam-registered vehicles were allegedly targeted with stones during a KSU bike rally in Shillong.
Several vehicles were reportedly damaged, while some people, including children, were injured in the incident.
Following the incident, Meghalaya-registered vehicles were stopped at Jorabat on Thursday by tourist drivers from Assam and members of the public.
Protesters demanded compensation for the damaged vehicles and reimbursement of medical expenses for those injured.
With two neighbouring-state tensions emerging within days, authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent further escalation.
