
#News | Homestay by the Tea Garden, located at Seujpur, Bylane 1, Dibrugarh, has been honoured by the Directorate of Tourism, Government of Assam, with the “Excellence in Homestay Hospitality” award for hosting the highest number of guests.
The recognition was announced on the occasion of World Tourism Day 2026 at an event in Dima Hasao, where Assam Tourism Minister Ajanta Neog announced the awards. The Dibrugarh-based property was recognised for its outstanding hospitality, dedication to guest satisfaction and contribution to promoting tourism in Assam.
Owner Nishiraj A. Baruah could not attend the World Tourism Day event as he was holidaying in East Africa. He was subsequently invited to the Directorate of Assam Tourism in Guwahati, where Director of Tourism Ranuj Kumar Borkotoky formally presented him with the award. The recognition included a certificate, trophy and cash prize of ₹10,000.
Speaking about the honour, Baruah said, “This is the first homestay in Dibrugarh and the first luxury homestay in Assam. I am grateful to my team, our loyal guests who return to Assam, and Assam Tourism for this!” The recognition marks a notable achievement for the property and highlights the growing contribution of homestays to Assam’s tourism sector.
