#news || Fresh COVID-19 cases have been reported in Assam over the past two months, with health officials and experts maintaining that there is no immediate indication of a severe outbreak in the state.
According to recent reports, around 80–90 positive cases were detected across parts of Upper Assam during July and August.
The infections are reportedly linked to the RF.5 COVID-19 variant, with patients largely experiencing mild, flu-like symptoms. Health experts have so far found no significant evidence of severe illness associated with the cases.
The rise in cases comes amid increased circulation of respiratory infections during the monsoon season. While authorities continue to monitor the situation, experts have urged people—particularly elderly individuals and those with existing health vulnerabilities—to remain cautious and seek medical attention if symptoms worsen.
The Assam government has also kept its COVID-19 advisories and guidelines under review, with the latest update published on August 14, 2026.
Health experts have stressed that the current situation does not warrant panic, but continued surveillance, timely testing and basic precautions remain important to prevent further transmission.
