Patna is celebrating a grand Jagannath Rath Yatra today, drawing over 4 lakh devotees. Organized by the ISKCON Temple, the festival roots itself in the ancient tradition of Lord Jagannath’s journey back to Vrindavan. To navigate the city safely, a 40-foot hydraulic chariot is being used to automatically lower past low-hanging utility wires and trees.
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated the event by sweeping the path with a golden broom. The massive celebration features a helicopter showering flower petals, continuous international kirtan, and a grand offering of 108 culinary dishes.
The procession started at 2:00 PM from the ISKCON Temple on Buddha Marg. It is moving through Taramandal, Income Tax Golamber, Patna Women’s College, Bihar Museum, and Dak Bungalow Chauraha before returning to the temple tonight. Strict traffic diversions remain in place across these areas.
