The collision occurred at around 5:00 pm, triggering panic and chaos at the scene. One person died on the spot, while at least six others sustained injuries. One of the injured is reported to be in critical condition. According to preliminary information, the body of Shiv Prasad, a resident of D-Sector, Bondamunda, was being transported to the Vedvyas Crematorium in a pickup vehicle following his demise. Family members, relatives, and local residents were travelling in a truck behind the hearse to attend the last rites. As the convoy reached the TCI Chowk, a location widely regarded as a danger zone due to frequent road accidents, a speeding Hyva truck allegedly crashed into the rear of the truck carrying the mourners. All the injured were immediately shifted to JP Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. Police have confirmed that one person succumbed to injuries at the scene, while the condition of one victim remains critical. The accident sparked anger and tension among local residents. Personnel from the Brahmani Tarang Police Station rushed to the spot, initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading to the crash, and are taking further legal action. The identity of the deceased and the injured is yet to be officially confirmed.
