Youth Killed in Bus Mishap Triggers Tension and Public Outrage in Biramitrapur
Biramitrapur, July 11 (SatyaNewsAlert): Tension and anger gripped the Biramitrapur bus stand area in Sundargarh district on Saturday morning after a youth allegedly died due to the negligent driving of a passenger bus.
The deceased has been identified as Anil Ekka, a resident of Bandamunda Dafai in Biramitrapur.
According to preliminary information, Anil was employed at a factory in the Kalunga Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) area. After completing his night shift, he reportedly boarded a Rourkela–Jharkhand-bound passenger bus from Vedvyas in the early hours of Saturday.
The incident occurred at around 5:30 a.m. when the bus reached the Biramitrapur bus stand. As Anil was alighting from the vehicle, the driver allegedly accelerated the bus before he could safely get down, causing him to lose balance and fall onto the road. He sustained critical injuries in the fall.
Locals alleged that despite being aware of the accident, the bus driver and conductor failed to stop the vehicle and continued their journey, leaving the injured man unattended. As a result, Anil did not receive immediate medical assistance. He was noticed by passersby after some time and rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Following a complaint lodged by the deceased's family, Biramitrapur Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Police are working to identify the bus involved in the incident and ascertain the circumstances leading to the fatal mishap.
The incident has sparked widespread resentment among local residents, who have demanded strict action against those responsible.
