Kailasa Temple, Ellora — an entire temple carved from a single rock. 🖤
Cave 16 at Ellora is the Kailasa Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and created in the 8th century. Instead of building upward, its makers carved downward into the rock, revealing an extraordinary temple complex from the mountain itself.
The closer you look, the harder it is to comprehend the scale of what was achieved centuries ago. Intricate pillars, sculptures, courtyards and an entire temple emerging from solid rock.
Some places are beautiful. Some make you wonder how they were even possible
