#News | In a strong show of unity and solidarity, members of the Assam Legislative Assembly across party lines have announced financial contributions to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support relief and rehabilitation efforts in flood-affected Upper Assam.

During the Assembly session, Speaker Ranjit Dass announced that both he and the Deputy Speaker would donate one month’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Following the announcement, all BJP legislators also pledged to contribute one month’s salary towards the flood relief initiative. Minister Pijush Hazarika further confirmed that he would donate his one month’s salary.

The Opposition also joined the collective effort. The Leader of the Opposition announced that all Congress MLAs would contribute one month’s salary to the relief fund. TMC MLA Sherman Ali also pledged his one month’s salary, while AIUDF MLA Mojibur Rahman extended financial assistance of ₹2 lakh.

Adding to the relief initiative, employees of the Assam Legislative Assembly pledged to donate one day’s wages to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

The collective contributions reflect a bipartisan commitment to supporting relief and rehabilitation measures for thousands of people affected by the devastating floods across Upper Assam.
