This isn’t just a sculpture… this is a story carved into the mountains. 🦅🚩
Kerala’s Jatayu Earth’s Center, Chadayamangalam — where the legendary story of Jatayu from the Ramayana comes alive.
When Ravana was taking Maa Sita away, Jatayu fought him to protect her honour. He was gravely wounded in the battle, his wings were cut off, and he fell on this very hill — according to the legend. Even in his final moments, Jatayu told Lord Rama what had happened and gave him the direction in which Ravana had taken Sita. 🙏
Today, this legendary sacrifice stands before you in the form of the world’s largest bird sculpture — an astonishing 200 ft long, 150 ft wide and 70 ft high, designed by sculptor Rajiv Anchal. (Kerala Tourism)
And the most powerful part?
This sculpture doesn’t show Jatayu flying…
It shows him after the fight — wounded, fallen, but still a symbol of courage, loyalty and sacrifice. 🦅❤️
Standing there made me realise —
some journeys are not just about discovering places, but discovering stories that have lived for centuries.
