#News || A young protester who had been staging a solo demonstration in support of Sonam Wangchuk in Lakhimpur was detained by police on Monday. The protest had been ongoing since Sunday beneath the Zubeen Garg statue at Khelmati, where the protester was peacefully expressing solidarity with Wangchuk’s movement. According to police officials, the protest was being held without prior permission. They said the protesters were asked to accompany them to the Office of the Superintendent of Police (SP) to obtain the required permission. However, the protesters allegedly refused to do so. Police then detained the young protester along with her brother and a fellow student, who had arrived to support her, and brought all three to the North Lakhimpur Sadar Police Station.
