The Third BIMSTEC Conference on Traditional Medicine Knowledge, Genetic Resources and Intellectual Property Rights and the Second BIMSTEC Nodal Group Meeting concluded today in Goa, with participation from all seven BIMSTEC Member States.
Day 2 continued with a visit to AIIA Goa, showcasing its state-of-the-art facilities in tertiary care and academics, with delegates sharing institutional best practices. A plantation programme was also organised, symbolising the shared commitment to traditional medicine and biodiversity conservation.
The Nodal Group deliberated on and arrived at four key areas of cooperation: institutional and policy cooperation; standards and trade; documentation and capacity building; and implementation mechanisms.
All Member States unanimously agreed to support each other in the areas of intellectual property, genetic resources and traditional medicine knowledge, providing a strong foundation for continued regional cooperation.
