Hooghly Sankalp - MENU 2026" Cultural Extravaganza Lights Up Murshidabad with Cyber Safety and Armed Forces Career Counseling
MURSHIDABAD, WEST BENGAL — The historic 410-kilometer riverine sailing expedition, "Hooghly Sankalp - MENU 2026,"reached an inspiring cultural crescendo today as 60 selected Naval NCC cadets from the Bengal Naval Units spearheaded by Commander Sanjib Sharan, Commanding Officer, 1 Bengal Naval NCC supported by Commander Mrinmoy Ghosh, Commanding Officer 2 Bengal Naval NCC under the aegis of the West Bengal & Sikkim Directorate, presented a power-packed cultural programme.
The grand event was graced by *Shri R. Arjun, IAS*, District Magistrate & District Collector of Murshidabad, as the Chief Guest, alongside Shri Sachin Makkar, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Murshidabad, Shri Aditya Vikram, IAS, Additional District Magistrate (LR), and other senior district officials. The vibrant gathering witnessed an enthusiastic audience of over 400 participants, including students, teachers, and NCC cadets.
Far beyond traditional sailing and maritime training, the expedition serves as a dynamic "floating classroom" and a powerful vehicle for social transformation. The cultural lineup was specially curated to blend artistic expression with critical national messages, highlighted by engaging presentations and performances centered on *Cyber Suraksha Awareness*—educating the youth and local community on digital safety, responsible online habits, and fraud prevention.
In alignment with the national vision of Vibrant Villages (Vibrant 2.0), the event also served as a major platform for youth empowerment and career guidance. During the programme, cadets actively distributed recruitment material and interacted with students, opening doors to prestigious career pathways in the Indian Armed Forces and inspiring the next generation of defenders of the nation.
From mastering rigging and boat pulling on the river to championing grassroots social development—ranging from digital literacy and environmental conservation to community welfare—the cadets of "Hooghly Sankalp" continue to prove that they are not just sailing through waters; they are actively shaping communities and building a stronger, safer, and self-reliant India.
