Two Seriously Injured in Car-Trailer Collision Near Hanuman Vatika in Rourkela .
Rourkela, August 22 (SatyaNewsAlert): Despite stringent road-safety laws and enforcement measures, road accidents continue to claim lives and cause serious injuries, with reckless driving and suspected drunk driving remaining major concerns.
A serious road accident occurred on Saturday afternoon near Ghadi Chhak at Hanuman Vatika in Rourkela, leaving two persons critically injured. The accident took place when a speeding car reportedly rammed into a trailer carrying iron angles.
The two injured persons were rushed to a government hospital for treatment. Another person has reportedly been taken into police custody in connection with the incident.
Preliminary investigation reportedly indicated that the driver of the car and some of the other occupants had consumed alcohol. Local residents alleged that excessive speed and suspected drunk driving were responsible for the collision. However, the exact cause of the accident is yet to be established.
Police from Uditnagar Police Station have launched an investigation into the incident.
The accident has once again raised concerns over road safety on Rourkela's Ring Road, where accidents are frequently reported. Residents have urged the police and concerned authorities to intensify patrolling, enforce speed limits and strengthen checks against drunk driving to prevent further accidents.
