Your vada pav, samosa or sandwich may soon come in different packaging. The FSSAI has directed food vendors, restaurants and eateries to stop using newspapers for wrapping, packing or serving food, citing health risks linked to printing ink and unhygienic handling. The move comes after officials found a popular Mumbai vada pav vendor allegedly using newspapers for food packaging during a recent inspection. Authorities have now asked all food businesses to switch to safer alternatives immediately.
