Mumbai has always lived with the sea. But this warning makes the future feel a little closer.

A new UN report says millions of people in Mumbai and Kolkata are at immediate risk of losing their homes as rising sea levels increase the threat of permanent flooding. The report also warns that coastal infrastructure water supplies and livelihoods could face growing pressure.

For a city that already knows what flooding can do every monsoon this is a warning we cannot afford to ignore.

Lost your chappals at Lalbaug Ganpati? Maybe they’re about to get a second life.

Every year, thousands of devotees leave their footwear behind during the massive crowds at Lalbaug. This time, the BMC plans to collect, sort and recycle the unclaimed footwear instead of simply throwing it away.

A small leftover from the celebrations could end up doing some real good.

Mumbai's GSB Seva Mandal has secured a staggering ₹703.27 Crore insurance cover for the 2026 Ganeshotsav.

MahaGanapati idol will be adorned with over 66 kgs of gold, 335 kgs of silver, and precious gemstones donated by devotees, according to Convenor Dr. Bhujang Pai.

Celebrating its 72nd year, the Mandal will host the Virat Darshan first look unveiling on September 12, 2026, at 8pm.

The main five-day festival will run from September 14 to September 18, 2026.

The Mandal is championing sustainability with a completely eco-friendly idol.

Additionally, they have eliminated paper wastage by shifting entirely to digital receipts for donations and sevas.

Mandal expects to perform over 1 lakh Poojas and Sevas.

The idol is revered globally as 'Navsala Pavnara Vishwacha Raja' The King of the Universe who fulfills wishes and draws massive crowds to its Matunga East King's Circle venue.
Mumbai has never really run out of things to do.

But there are still so many little things that could make everyday life in the city better.

More places to sit. More spaces to walk. More ways to spend time without spending money. More places to enjoy the sea and better everyday amenities.

Mumbai already has the character.

Maybe it just needs a little more room for people to enjoy it.

What is one thing you wish Mumbai had?

This one will make you check that expiry date twice. 👀

A suspected racket involving the tampering of manufacturing and expiry dates on packaged food has been busted in Navi Mumbai.

The FDA seized food products worth around ₹75.52 lakh, including Maggi, Lay’s, Kurkure and Fun Flips, after allegedly finding original dates and nutrition labels being replaced with fresh stickers. The licence of Sadhana Enterprises in Turbhe has been suspended and an FIR has been registered.

Mumbai is a city we all share.

And making it a little better does not always need a big change. Sometimes it is simply letting someone get off the train first, keeping a footpath clear or giving way when someone needs it.

Small things become big when an entire city starts doing them.

Let’s make Mumbai a little easier for each other. ❤️

Mumbai keeps moving through every kind of weather and behind that movement are the people who keep the city safe.

From standing on the roads in pouring rain to responding when the city needs them, the Mumbai Police continues to be there for Mumbaikars.

A ₹15 crore contribution from the Adani Foundation will help add 100 new patrol cars to the Mumbai Police fleet, strengthening their ability to respond faster across the city.

A safer Mumbai is a stronger Mumbai. ❤️

Our city keeps moving because someone is always standing guard.

Mumbaikars, your morning milk is about to cost a little more.

From September 1, tabela milk in Mumbai will see a ₹9 per litre hike, taking the wholesale price from ₹93 to ₹102.

The increase comes just before the festive season, with milk producers citing rising cattle feed and fodder costs. The revised rate will remain in place until February 28, 2027.

Mumbai has a way of hiding stories in places we pass every day.

A fort on the way to work, an old village tucked behind busy streets or a centuries old site surrounded by the city. We may know the place but often never stop to ask what came before it.

Here are a few Mumbai places that deserve a second look.

Planning to drive through Ghatkopar on September 5?
Keep this in mind.

The southbound channel of the Andheri-Ghatkopar Link Road between Shreyas Junction and Bhimnagar Junction will remain closed from 7 am to 11:30 pm for a Dahi Handi event at Tilak Wadi in Sainath Nagar. If this is part of your usual route, it’s probably a good day to plan an alternate route.
