PRESS RELEASE *IIT Kharagpur, Government of Tripura and Senrysa Technologies Sign Landmark Tripartite MoU to Establish Centre of Excellence & Innovation Hub in Tripura* Tripartite collaboration to advance Artificial Intelligence, deep technology, research, skill development, startup incubation and industry-driven innovation in the State Kharagpur, 15th July 2026: In a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening the technology and innovation ecosystem of Northeast India, the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur), the Department of Information Technology, Government of Tripura, and Senrysa Technologies Limited have signed a Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a first-of-its-kind Centre of Excellence & Innovation Hub in the State of Tripura. The MoU was signed during the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026, marking a significant step towards creating a comprehensive platform that brings together the strengths of academia, government and industry to accelerate technology-led growth and knowledge-driven development in the State. The agreement was signed by Prof. Suman Chakraborty, Director, IIT Kharagpur; Shri Kumar P. Saha, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Senrysa Technologies Limited; and Shri Jeya Ragul Geshan B., IFS, Director, Information Technology, Government of Tripura, on behalf of the Department of Information Technology, Government of Tripura. The agreement was exchanged in the distinguished presence of Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran, Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India; Shri Jitendra Kumar Sinha, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Tripura; Shri Kiran Gitte, IAS, Secretary, Industries & Commerce and Information Technology, Government of Tripura; and other esteemed dignitaries. The proposed Centre of Excellence & Innovation Hub is envisioned as a dynamic platform for fostering next-generation education, cutting-edge research, advanced technical collaborations, responsible Artificial Intelligence innovation, skill development, startup incubation, entrepreneurship promotion and industry-driven solutions. The initiative seeks to create a sustainable ecosystem capable of nurturing talent, translating research into real-world applications and supporting the evolving needs of the digital economy. The collaboration will leverage the academic and research excellence of IIT Kharagpur, the enabling policy and institutional support of the Government of Tripura, and the industry and technology expertise of Senrysa Technologies Limited. By bringing these complementary strengths together, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between research, innovation, entrepreneurship and industrial application. The Centre is expected to facilitate interdisciplinary engagement in emerging and frontier technologies, with a particular focus on areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, deep technology and digital transformation. It will also seek to create opportunities for students, researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs and industry professionals to engage in collaborative research, technology development, capacity building and innovation-led problem-solving. A key focus of the initiative will be the development of skilled human resources capable of contributing to rapidly evolving technology sectors. Through specialised training, research engagement, industry exposure and innovation programmes, the Centre will endeavour to strengthen the technology talent pool in Tripura and the wider Northeast region. The Centre of Excellence & Innovation Hub will also seek to provide an enabling environment for startups and aspiring entrepreneurs. Through incubation support, mentorship, access to technical expertise and stronger connections between academia and industry, the initiative aims to encourage the development of innovative and scalable technology-driven solutions. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that advances in Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies contribute meaningfully to economic development, social progress and public good. Responsible and impactful innovation will remain an important aspect of the Centre's envisioned activities.
